Snapchat has quickly become quite popular and beloved among the apps. How to Find People on Snapchat & Add Them
Now installing it isn’t enough, you need to add people and friends with whom you want to share your snaps and as well as if you want to know what others are up to. There are too many ways you can add friends to your Snapchat friends list. You can send snaps back and forth and chat with each other once you have added people on Snapchat.
Adding Friends by Username on Snapchat
It is the best way people add each other on Snapchat. They have to trade their usernames with each other that is letting your friends know yours or getting to know theirs Snapchat username. This lets you to add people that aren’t in your phone’s contact list. You got to ask the person what their Snapchat username is and remember you ask for the right name because Snapchat has two names- Display names and User names.
The Display name is the name that appears first to other people, and can be changed, but is not used to add someone and will not meet your purpose. The Username is the user’s permanent account name. You’ll basically need the Username to add someone.
To know your own details you have to tap the Ghost button at the top of the Snapchat camera screen which will show your Snapcode, display name, username and Snapchat score. Tap “Add Friends” which will open the Add Friends menu.
Now tap “Add by username” which opens the user search. Now type the full username of the person you want to add. Entering a partial username wont entertained because Snapchat won’t be finishing it for you.
You cannot add or search by real name, phone number, email address, or any other name or address. [If you want to add someone using their phone number, add them to your phone’s address book first then refer to the next section of this article]. If you’ve typed the person’s entire username correctly then a “+Add” button will appear next to the user, click on this button. This will add the person to your friends list.
Depending on the other person’s privacy settings you may need to wait to be added back
Adding Contacts from Your Phone
Tap the “Contacts” tab in the following screen that displays a list of people in your phone’s contacts list that have their phone number associated with their Snapchat account. If prompted, give Snapchat access to your device’s contacts.
It allows Snapchat to check which of your contacts have their phone numbers linked with Snapchat profiles. Scroll through the list and click on “+” or “+Add” to add people to your friends list. The person you add will be added to your friends list, and notified that you’ve added them.
They’ll then be able to add you back if they want. Bottom of the list shows all of your contacts that haven’t installed Snapchat, or don’t have their phone number linked with their Snapchat account. You can invite them by tapping on “+Invite“.
Scanning a Friend’s Snapcode
Simply tap the Snapchat ghost at the top of your screen to pull up your personal snap code. You simply need to press and hold on the code in your Snapchat camera screen. This will scan the code and show the user.
Now you have to only tap “Add Friend” after scanning and just wait to be added back as per other person’s privacy settings. Snapchat has the feature to scan the pictures on your device and detect any that have a Snapcode on it.
When you click on “Add by Snapcode” you may be prompted to allow Snapchat to access your device’s photo storage. Select the picture that contains the Snapcode. Snapchat will scan the code and give you the “Add Friend” prompt.
Adding a Friend in the Same Room
Tap the Ghost button at the top of the Snapchat camera screen to see your Snapcode and profile related information. Click on “Add Friends” to display the Add Friends menu. Tap “Add Nearby” and your device will start detecting other nearby devices.
Tell your friend to be on the same “Add Nearby” screen. You’ll see their username appear in your Add Nearby screen. Tap “+” or “+Add” next to your friend’s username. This will add them to your friends list. Your friend should do the same so that you can both start sending and receiving Snaps from each other.
Adding Back a Friend
You’ll be notified for people that you already added to your own friends list, as well as people that you haven’t added before. These notifications won’t be shown again after leaving this screen, so if you don’t add someone back now, you’ll need to look them up later.
Click on “+Add” right beside the person that added you to add them to your own friends list.
Now you can easily add whoever you want to using these steps. Although, an important point to remember, you cannot add someone to Snapchat using their email address or real name.
It is important to be aware of the fact that other users, your friends can take screenshots or photos of snaps you send them.
