دانشگاه علوم پزشکی مشهد History of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences اولین پیشنهاد برای راه اندازی دانشگاه در مشهد ، در سال 1313همزمان با تأسیس دانشگاه تهران ثبت گردیده است . با پیگیری و جدیت مسوولین وقت و مردم دانش پرور این سرزمین در سال 1318 از سوی دفتر نخست وزیر موافقت با این امر طی نامه ای به شماره 17450 به وزارت معارف اعلام شد. History of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences The first suggestions to establish a university in Mashhad refers back to 1934 the same time as Tehran University was established. After years of attempts, considering the dire need to have doctors in Khorasan Province, in 1947 government cabinet consented to establish a university in Mashhad. Its constitution was also ratified then. بعد از پیروزی انقلاب اسلامی و تغییرات کلی در بافت وزارتخانه ها، در سال 1365 دانشگاه های علوم پزشکی کشور و علوم وابسته به آن از وزارت علوم و آموزش عالی منفک شد و با وزارت بهداری تواما تحت عنوان وزارت بهداشت، درمان و آموزش پزشکی به کار خود ادامه داد و دانشگاه مشهد نیز به تبع آن به تدریج به دو موسسه مستقل به نام های "دانشگاه علوم پزشکی مشهد" و "دانشگاه فردوسی مشهد" شناخته شد که هر یک با مدیریت جداگانه اداره می گردد.
