Երևանի ֆիզիկայի ինստիտուտը (ԵրՖԻ) հիմնադրվել է 1944 թ.-ին, որպես Երևանի պետական համալսարանի մասնաճյուղ՝ Աբրահամ Ալիխանով և Արտեմ Ալիխանյան եղբայրների կողմից։ Ավելի ուշ, Արագած սարի վրա ստեղծվեցին 2 տիեզերական Ճառագայթների կայաններ՝ «Արագած» (3200 մ) և «Նոր Ամբերդ» (2000 մ)։1963 թ.-ին ինստիտուտը տեղափոխվել է Խորհրդային Միության Ատոմային էներգիայի պետական կոմիտեի ենթակայության տակ։...
