What can be more frustrating than firing up your laptop to do some important work and you find the speed of the laptop really slow? You have checked up the internet and other connections and all seems to be fine but yet the laptop’s speed has not increased; then what is it that you can do?
Laptops are more susceptible to slow down since they are less powerful than PC. You need to check if your laptop is stuffed with unnecessary and unused files and folders and apps that you no longer use. If this is the case, then it’s time to ‘clean’ your lappy and free it up from all that unnecessary junk to speed it up.
We have explained here how you can tidy your laptop, irrespective of the fact that it is Windows, gaming PC or even MacBook, although if you are looking for ways of uninstalling applications on Mac, you can read our related article on the topic.
Uninstall Unnecessary Apps from Your Laptop
To uninstall any app or program that is no longer in use, all you have to do is go the ‘control panel’ from the ‘Start’ menu and click on ‘uninstall a program’. Next, select the app or program you want to remove and click on ‘uninstall’ option.
This option may vary from application to application, depending on the dialogue box that certain apps might have separately. Also, it is safe to say, this method works on the entire Windows platform except for Windows 10.
On Windows 10
Uninstalling a program or an app from the Windows 10 is much simpler than from other Windows versions. You can remove an app either directly from the ‘Start’ menu, or from the ‘Settings’ menu or from the ‘Control Panel’.
If you want to remove the apps directly (sort of) from the ‘Start’ menu, click on Start>All Apps, then select the app you want to uninstall and click on ‘uninstall’ from the drop-down menu. There will appear a dialog box asking you to confirm if you really want to uninstall the app. In case, the ‘Uninstall’ option does not appear, then know that the app might be a default program and cannot be removed easily.
You might not find the app you want to delete, then go to the ‘Settings’ from the ‘Start’ menu and then go to System>Apps &features. Here, you will find all the apps and programs on your laptop, and you can choose the app you want to uninstall. Choose the app and click on ‘Uninstall’ and a dialog box will appear asking you to confirm the selection.
There is another option of uninstalling apps (excluding Windows 10 apps) directly from the Control panel. Click on Start>Control Panel>Programs & Features>Uninstall a Program. Find the app you want to uninstall, select it, and lastly, click on ’Uninstall’ option. A pop-up window will ask you confirming the selection and if you really want to uninstall the app, click on ‘Yes’ and you are done.
