என் நண்பர் வெளிநாடு சென்றிருந்த போது ஒருRestaurantல் நண்பருடன் காபி அருந்திக் கொண்டிருந்தார். அப்பொழுது ஒரு பெண் counter ல் பணம் செலுத்தும் போது five coffee,, two suspended என்று கூறினார். அடுத்து வந்த இளைஞர் ten coffee five என்று கூறிவிட்டு 10 காபிக்கு பணம் செலுத்தி விட்டு 5 காபி மட்டும் வாங்கிக் கொண்டார். பின்னால் வந்தவர் five meals two suspended என்று கூறிவிட்டு இரண்டு உணவு மட்டும் வாங்கிச் சென்றார். என் நண்பருக்கு ஒன்றும் புரியவில்லை. என்ன இது? என்று கேட்டார். பொறுங்கள் என்றார் அவர் நண்பர். சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து ஒரு முதியவர் கிழிந்த ஆடைகளோடு counter ஐ நெருங்கினார். Any suspended coffee என்று கேட்டார். Counter ல் இருந்த பெண் Yes என்று கூறிவிட்டு சூடான ஒரு கப் காப்பியை அந்த முதியவருக்கு கொடுத்தார். என் நண்பருக்கு மெய் சிலிர்த்தது. என்ன ஒரு மனித நேயம். வறுமைக்கோட்டில் உள்ள முகம் தெரியாதவர்களுக்கு செய்யபடும் ஒரு நேர்மையான உதவி. இன்னும் ஒரு சிறப்பு என்னவென்றால், இந்த பழக்கம் நேபாள் நாட்டிலிருந்து உலகம் முழுவதும் பரவியிருக்கிறது.,, பிறர் துன்பம் கண்டு மனம் கசிவோர் எல்லாம் தெய்வமே. நாமும் ஏன் இதை பின்பற்றக்கூடாது? இதை படித்தவுடன் எனக்கு நேற்று ஒரு யோசனை வந்தது. இதை ஏன் நான் இருக்கும் சேலத்தில் இந்த பழக்கத்தை கொண்டு வரக்கூடாது என்று? நேற்று மதியம் என் அம்மாவின் கண் அறுவைசிகிச்சை முடிய நான் இன்று மதியத்திற்குள் நான் அடிக்கடி செல்லும் அறிமுகமான தேநீர் கடைகளில் அமர்ந்து கல்லாவில் இருந்தவர்களிடமும் அக்கடை முதலாளிகளிடமும் பேசி இந்த suspended coffee யை பற்றி விளக்கினேன். என்ன விளக்கினேன்? இந்த பதிவின் சாராம்சத்தை அப்படியே படித்து காட்டி வெளிநாடுகளில் இது போல காஃபி ஷாப்களில் காஃபியோ தேநீரோ உணவோ அருந்துபவர்கள் தான் இரண்டு காஃபி வாங்கினால் ஐந்து காஃபிக்கான காசை கொடுத்து அந்த suspended என்ற மூன்று காஃபிகளை எளிய மக்களுக்கு காஃபியோ தேநீருக்காகவோ கை நீட்டுபவர்களுக்கு கொடுக்கும் வழக்கம் இருப்பதை எடுத்து சொன்னேன். மிக பொறுமையாக கேட்டு என்னை மனதார பாராட்டினர். அவர்கள் என் காசை ஏமாற்ற மாட்டார்கள் என்ற நம்பிக்கை எனக்கு இருந்து இருக்கிறது. நேற்று முதல் ஐந்து கடைகளில் ஆறு தேநீர் அருந்தி பதினைந்து தேநீருக்கான காசை கொடுத்தேன். மிக கண்ணியமான வழக்கமாக வரும் வாடிக்கையாளர்களிடம் யாரையும் வற்புறுத்தாமல் இதை பற்றி சொல்லி செய்ய சொல்லி வேண்டுகோள் வைத்தேன். நிச்சயமாக செய்வதாக உறுதி அளித்தவர்கள் என் அலைபேசி எண்ணை வாங்கிக்கொண்டு நேற்று மாலையும் இன்று காலையும் எனக்கு பேசி அந்த நான் கொடுத்த காசுக்கான தேநீரை எளிய மக்களுக்கு கொடுத்ததாக சொன்னார்கள். இதை நான் தொடர்வேனா? நாளை எனக்கு ஒரு பிரச்னை என்றால் இதை மறந்து என் கவலையில் மூழ்கி மறந்துவிடுவேனா? என்பது எனக்கு தெரியாது. அனைவருக்கும் அள்ளிக்கொடுக்க நான் ஒன்றும் கோடீஸ்வரனும் கிடையாது . ஆனால் கிள்ளிக்கொடுக்க முடியும் என்னால். இப்போது ஒரு தீக்குச்சியை பற்ற வைக்கிறேன். இது தொடருமா என்றும் எனக்கு தெரியாது. இன்னொரு விஷயம் நான் பிறந்து வளர்ந்த சேலம் செவ்வாய் பேட்டை பகுதியில் நிறைய வெள்ளி நகை கடைகள் தங்க அடகு கடைகள் ஆசாரி பட்டறைகள் வெள்ளியின் தரம் பார்த்து சான்றிதழ் கொடுக்கும் ரிஃபைனரிகள் என நிறைய இருக்கின்றது. அங்கு பல வருடங்களாகவே நிறைய கடைகளில் மதியம் சரியாக பனிரெண்டு மணிக்கு கடைகளில் நுழையும் இடத்தில் ஒரு ஓரமாக மதிய உணவு பொட்டலங்கள் வைக்கப்பட்டு இருக்கும். ஒவ்வொரு கடையின் முதலாளியின் பண வசதிக்கு ஏற்ப உணவு பொட்டலங்களின் எண்ணிக்கை இருக்கும். யார் வேண்டுமானாலும் யாரிடமும் கை ஏந்தாமல் அதை எடுத்து செல்லலாம். ஒரு கடையில் தீர்ந்தால் இன்னொரு கடையில் நிச்சயமாக உணவு இருக்கும். இந்த கடைகளின் முதலாளிகள் பல்வேறு மொழி இனம் மதம் என வேறுபட்டு இருந்தாலும் ஒரு தார்மீகமாக செயலாக இதை செய்கிறார்கள். இது சேலம் வாழ் நாண்பர்களுக்கு தெரிந்த விஷயம்....
