A recent research by Andy Sutton, professor of EE’s principal network architecture stated that the vision of 5G technologies to make it invisible for the planet. It is all about the latency that is probably between 10 Gbps to 100 Gbps. But is it actually faster than 4G? 5G Vs 4G
In other words, Yes! The speed will be faster. Currently, 4G LTE download speeds increase to about one gigabit per second. This means that it takes about an hour to download a short HD film in perfect condition. The list is getting longer.
5G will be increasing this download speeds up to 10 gigabits per second. This means that a Full HD movie can be downloaded in seconds. It also significantly reduces the latency (giving people the fastest load time). In other words, it delivers wireless broadband capacity which needs to feed thousands of connected devices to reach our homes and workplaces.
How does 5G work?
There are already major global telecommunications consortia working to create global standards around 5G. While most of these standards have not been solidified, experts expect to be backward compatible (with 3G and 4G) and interoperability worldwide.
In its most basic form, mobile phones are essentially two-way radios. When you call someone, your phone will convert your voice into an electrical signal. It sends this signal to the nearest cell tower using a radio wave. The cell tower radio jumps over the cellular network tower and possibly your friend’s phone. The same thing happens when you send other types of data (such as photos and videos) throughout the network.
Usually, when a new wireless mobile technology comes (like 5G), higher radio frequencies are credited. For example, 4G occupied frequency bands up to 20 MHz. For 5G, it will probably sit in the frequency range up to 6GHz. The ratio of new wireless technologies occupying higher frequencies is that they are generally not used and move information at faster speeds. The problem is that the higher-frequency signal does not travel as far as the lower frequencies do. Where the antenna input and multiple outputs (MIMO) is likely to be used to increase the signal which would be offered by 5G.
5G, when will it be available, and who are working on it?
Already available in several test sites in the United States. Before few months at MWC, Verizon has announced that it has begun testing 5G in Texas, Oregon, and New Jersey. Not being left out, AT & T announced that it will begin testing 5G technology in their own laboratory before settling fixed test.
Although Verizon and AT & T, the two largest providers of Internet service in the world, tested 5G, and do not expect to be seen soon in the market. Most experts predict that 5G will not be widely available before 2020.
But it is definitely worth the wait. If there’s one thing everyone can agree on is that this will be the fastest internet service. And the importance of a fast connection has been always increasing.
