Rise to Ruins, formerly known by as Retro-Pixel Castles is a strategy game based on city-building and features pixelated design, god game, and survival elements. The game is much inspired by those of Warcraft, Gnomoria, Banished and Dwarf Fortress.

The game features three modes to play, survival mode, sandbox mode and quiet mode. Survival mode is the core gameplay where you manage your village presented in a pixel-like design. The players are bound to lose in Rise to Ruins as the enemy gets strengthened at each level. It’s designed in such a way, that you can never beat the game.

Peaceful mode, on the other hand, allows you to maintain your focus on creating a happy world for your villagers rather than opting for survival as it is in the other mode. Here, the enemies are also toned down, and your fights will be much less. Sandbox mode is an entirely new thing, where you can manipulate the game settings to create different levels. Sandbox mode is genuinely for the gamers who want to test their credentials.

The game is still into early access even after it was launched in 2014 but the game is pretty much about to complete with new assets to come soon. It’s a great option if managing village endlessly is your thing.
