Warzone 2100 is a real-time strategy video game, originally developed by Pumpkin Studios and published by Eidos Interactive for the Sony PlayStation Console. However, this game is now developed by the Warzone 2100 Project.
In comparison with other real-time strategy games, the Warzone 2100 has more focus on artillery, radar, in-game cinematic updates as gameplay advances, a massive research tree, counter-battery technologies as well as a vehicle design system.
In this game, you command “The Project” forces to rebuild the world after nuclear missiles have almost destroyed humanity in war. The game also offers multiple battle modes: Campaign, Multi-player, and single-player. Its massive research tree with over 400 unique technologies, combines with unit design system and allows for a great mixture of possible units and tactics.
The Warzone 2100 was initially released as a commercial game in 1999, but later in 2004, it was released as open source for the community to keep working on it. It is available on cross-platform, and you can easily download and play as it is completely free to play.
